Hi everyone,

I think it's officially safe to come out of hibernation. The most you'll be needing in the near future is a jean jacket to keep warm at night or an umbrella to deal with the rain - but boots and winter jackets can be safely stored away without fear of jinxing the weather.

Your calendar for the next two weeks should include the following: Talent Show on Wednesday, May 24th at Club Soda (click here to buy your ticket), and the SPCI & MSS Gala on Monday, May 29th (click here to RSVP and see the schedule). Stop whatever you're doing, swipe to your calendar, and add these two activities to your agenda. It's time for some well-deserved social time, #wellness, and new memories.

Hope to see you this week and next!

Natasha Caminsky, MSS VP Internal 2016-2017

SPCI & MSS Gala - May 29th at 6PM

MSS

Come celebrate the 2016-2017 year with us as we recognize the significant contributions that so many have made to student life and the community at large. An abundance of food and drinks will be provided. If you feel that you've benefitted in one way or another from a club-related or SPCI-funded activity in any way, this is your way to support those who made these events possible.

We have the honor of welcoming Dr. Phil Vourtzoumis (R3 General Surgery) as our keynote speaker! Dr. Vourtzoumis and his family founded Pink in the City, an organization that has been raising awareness and funds for the MUHC’s Breast Clinic for over 10 years. Since it's inauguration in 2006, over $150,000 have been raised. Pink in the City also act as ambassadors to building volunteer - active communities and empower students by sending a clear message that they can make a difference. Click here to learn more about Dr. Phil Vourtzoumis.

We will also get the chance to get an update from some of the students who received SPCI funding for their projects.

Finally, awards will be announced for Clubs of the Year, and the MSS Leadership Award winners will be revealed! But wait, how are the Club of the Year awards decided? We need YOUR help! Please cast your vote here and make sure your favorite clubs get the recognition that they deserve!

Hope to see you there!

Your SPCI and MSS Council

My Life as a Turkey (2011)

Faculty of Medicine

23 May 2017, 19:00 to 21:00
Arts Building Moyse Hall, 853 rue Sherbrooke Ouest, Montreal, QC, H3A 0G5, CA

Join us for a free screening and discussion of the movie My Life as a Turkey (2011). Biologist Joe Hutto was mother to the strangest family in the world, thirteen endangered wild turkeys that he raised from egg to the day they left home. Screening will be followed by a panel discussion with Prof. Colin Chapman, McGill School of Environment, and Dr. John Hoffer, Professor of Medicine at McGill University. No reservation required.

UGME Committee in Internal Medicine

Faculty of Medicine

**Leadership Opportunity**
Deadline to apply: Monday, June 5th

I hope you’re enjoying the first few weeks of sunshine! The UGME Committee in Internal Medicine is looking for a Med-2 student representative for the next academic year. The rep will take part in monthly meetings with faculty and other student reps. Your responsibilities would include soliciting feedback from your fellow classmates regarding the internal medicine portion of TCP and later on during clerkship, presenting it to faculty, as well as representing/communicating your colleague's issues and concerns. This is a great opportunity to get involved in medical education and to represent your fellow classmates, not to mention demonstrating your leadership skills directly to faculty. If you're interested, please send a short cover letter (a paragraph or two), to myself (luca.melnychuk@mail.mcgill.ca) and Ryan Hartley (ryan.hartley@mail.mcgill.ca) by Monday, June 5th.

Hand Hygiene Auditor Job Annoucement

MUHC

The Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Service at the Montreal Children's Hospital (MCH) is looking for a part-time hand hygiene auditor who could dedicate 10-15 hours/week. The position involves covert auditing of hand hygiene compliance of healthcare workers on inpatient units at the MCH, inputting data into a software, extracting data, calculating rates and creating graphs using Excel. The chosen auditor would become an active member of the IPC team and would play a crucial role in promoting patient safety at the MCH. The position is well remunerated. If interested, please contact Dr. Marie-Astrid Lefebvre (Pediatric Infectious Diseases Physician, MCH) at: marie-astrid.lefebvre@muhc.mcgill.ca.

UQTR - Nouvelle formation pour les étudiants en médecine

Other (Medical)

Title : Formation en anatomie palpatoire at UQTR Aug 28 to Sept 1

Room for Rent

I have to leave behind my super sweet place on de Maisonneuve literally right across the street from the Glen.
It's a 2-storey apartment, and on the main floor there's a beautiful kitchen with a balcony, a huge bathroom with standing shower, jacuzzi tub and washer/dryer, a room that's currently my office but could be a dining room, a nice and bright living room, and one bedroom. The upstairs is a kind of loft area which is also gigantic, with its own bathroom with a tub, but no shower. There's also a big attic area for storage.
My brother's moving into the bedroom on the main floor so I'm looking for someone to take the loft area upstairs. He's a JMSB student and a pretty cool guy, and your landlords would be the nicest, most helpful and most reasonable people in the world (my parents).
We're asking $650 plus half of the utilities. The shared spaces are furnished, and there's the possibility of your bedroom being furnished too. If you're interested, know someone who might be, or want to come see it, let me know!
