Charles Tessier

Key points:

  • Safety and inclusivity during the Coronavirus era while still hosting as many different events as possible (both in-person and virtually).
  • To promote sustainable and environmentally friendly social practices during our events.
  • To promote an undivided cohort that has fluid pre-med and higher education student interaction – we’re here for a good time, so the more people are involved, the better (when this is legally allowed, of course!)

Platform:

Hey! I’m Charles Tessier and I’m running alongside Santina for the Med-1 Class Representative position. To us, the most important thing is that we become one united, big cohort (and not have two subcohorts). We’ll be spending a long time together and we believe this year will set the grounds for the rest, so we are committed to planning the events you need to create bonds that will (hopefully!) last you for life.

A bit about me: I’ve been hosting parties at my place since I was 14, and nothing makes me happier than when I see my friends having fun at an event I’ve spent a lot of time and effort planning. I also take pride in being a very accessible and open guy, as my DMs will always be a safe-space if you ever feel the need to talk about anything. I’m a very simple and straightforward person, so you’ll always know exactly what you’re getting from me. Je suis aussi parfaitement bilingue (ma langue maternelle étant le français), donc vous pouvez communiquer avec moi dans la langue qui vous convient le mieux!

I chose to run with Santina, because I’ve seen her work as our VP social in Med-P last year and I know she is the best co-rep I could ever ask for. On top of that, I know she is an extremely sensitive and forthcoming person, so I’m confident she will also be there for every one of you if you ever need anything.

Regarding COVID; having an immunosuppressed mom, I’m well aware of just how hard it can be to have to choose between putting yourself at risk by seeing your friends and staying isolated to protect the ones you love during this pandemic. For this reason, we will make sure to offer you a variety of in-person events that are covid-friendly as long as it is required, so you can meet everyone in your cohort while still feeling safe. We also plan on organizing some virtual events, like video game tournaments or virtual game rooms, so you can stay in the comfort of your home while still mingling with your peers. In a world full of uncertainties, one thing you can be certain of is that we will be creative and flexible all year to ensure we can all have fun together while being safe.

Our last main point is the environmental one: although COVID has changed things a bit, we are still in a environmental crisis, so we will make sure some concrete actions, such as adding separate bags for used cans and recycling bins to events, are taken on our part so that our events are as eco-friendly as possible!

I sincerely believe we are the best dynamic duo there is to make this year a fun one, and I hope you guys will trust us with your vote!

Charles
