Executive council (Montreal campus)

Executive President

Name: Ryan Kara

Role: Representing members in key meetings, overseeing governance activities, chairing councils, and ensuring alignment with the Strategic Plan.

While promoting transparency, supporting student initiatives, and facilitating communication between campuses.

Fun fact: I wake up early every morning to row!

Vice-President External Quebec

Name: Alyssia Guarneri

Role: As VP External Québec, I act as the bridge between the MSS and the FMEQ, ensuring that McGill students are well represented at the provincial level. I advocate for student interests and work alongside representatives from other Quebec medical schools to foster collaboration and amplify our collective voice.

Fun fact:  I have a habit of booking trips before fully thinking them through… and I never regret it!

Vice-President External Canada

Name: Parsa Azizi-Mehr

Role: Hey everyone! My name is Parsa, and I’m thrilled to be your VP Ex-Canada this year. I’m originally from Toronto (go Leafs!) but have been calling Montreal home for the past few years. When I’m not studying, you’ll usually find me snowboarding in the winter or fishing in the summer. I’m excited to represent McGill on the national stage and make sure all of our interests are heard!

Fun fact: I am a medical student.

Vice-President Global Health Canada

Name: Aissam Souidi

Role: As the Vice President – Global Health, I’m excited to bring the world a little closer to our med school by creating spaces where we can learn about health beyond borders, from global health challenges to inspiring local solutions. This year, I’ll be organizing events, building connections, and making sure global health feels both accessible and exciting for all of us.

Fun fact: I speak 5 languages, but still can’t roll my R’s!

Vice-President Global Health Quebec

Name: Yasmine Elmi

Role: As VP Global Health Quebec, I lead a team of officers and oversee global health initiatives that advocate for health equity. I will also foster collaboration between stakeholders, ensuring impactful programs and partnerships address global health challenges.

Fun fact: I’m hiking Kilimanjaro this year

Vice-President Medical Education

Name: Isaac Bouhdana

Role: My role is to enhance the academic experience for Med 1 to 4 students by advocating for them and representing their interests on Faculty’s Committee. I also co-chair the Medical Education Committee (EdCom) with the VPMedEd CO.

Fun fact: I don’t organize my Spotify into playlists – it’s just my Liked Songs… which makes for some very unexpected lineups sometimes!

Medicine Senator

Name: Alvin Leenus

Role: As the Medicine Senator, I work closely with the MSS and other student associations to advocate for student perspectives on issues such as academic policy, curriculum, governance, and university-wide initiatives.

Fun fact: Over the last 2 years, I’ve travelled to 21 countries!

Vice-President Equity, Diversity, Inclusion

Name: Arielle Mbuyo Ngantchang

Role: The Vice President of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) on the Medical Students’ Society serves as an advocate for students and works to foster an accessible, inclusive environment for all. This role involves close collaboration with the Equity Committee, MSS members, and the Faculty of Medicine to enhance the student experience and promote EDI principles throughout the community.

Fun fact: I am a member of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF)

Name: Jeremy Naimer

Role: Facilitating and strengthening the MSS’s existing partnerships and forming relationships with new sponsors.

Serving as the vice-president and working on various projects with many council members.

Fun fact: I have a deep love for Guitar Hero!

Name: Britany Mbangi

Role: Organize and schedule Board of Governor, Executive Council, and General Council meetings and take meeting minutes.

Name: Akash Sasitharan

Role: Create a budget that is adapted to the student body’s wishes and needs.

Meet with students to discuss funding of new initiatives.

Vice-President Wellness

Name:  Asma Khamis

Role: As the VP Wellness, I advocate for mental, emotional, and physical wellness, as well as a broader wellness culture, within the medical student body. My focus is on creating long-lasting support through resources and policy, promoting mental health awareness and knowledge, sharing wellbeing strategies, planning events and initiatives with the Medical Student Wellness Committee (MSW), and ensuring accessible and inclusive care and support systems.

Fun fact: I love to garden, and have over 30 plants in my apartment!

Name: Alexandra Larocque

Role: As VP Social, I help design and coordinate social events, from Frosh and Internos to new initiatives that make student life memorable. My role centers on creating inclusive and fun opportunities for students to unwind, connect, and feel at home in the MSS community.

Fun fact: I have red hair and read Latin: I’m either a Weasley or someone the Restricted Section is worried about…

Vice-President Social Affairs

Name: Emma Starr

Role: As VP Social, I help design and coordinate social events, from Frosh and Internos to new initiatives that make student life memorable. My role centers on creating inclusive and fun opportunities for students to unwind, connect, and feel at home in the MSS community.

Fun fact: Med school tests revealed I had TB! I probably got it from living in Mongolia 11 years ago, though the timeline’s still a bit of a mystery!

Vice-President Internal Affairs

Name: Sienna Allan

Role: As Vice-President Internal, I oversee activities of MSS clubs across Montreal and Outaouais campuses. I coordinate club weeks and the recruitment process while also leading communications, including our calendar and weekly newsletter.

Fun fact: I am not named after a minivan (Toyota Sienna).

MD-PHD Representative

Name: Lixing Wang

Role: As the MD-PhD representative, my role is to represent the concerns and interests of MD-PhD students at the MSS General Council. I also serve as a consistent liaison, providing organized updates between the MSS and the MD-PhD student council.

Fun fact: I repeated one grade.

Role: En tant que présidente exécutive, j’ai le privilège de soutenir à la fois l’ensemble du corps étudiant et les vice-présidences de la MSS. Originaire de la belle région de l’Outaouais, j’ai à cœur de porter la voix de notre campus au sein de la MSS et auprès de la Faculté de médecine. 

Fun fact: J’ai été capitaine de l’équipe de flag-football en med-p pour l’UQO et je n’avais jamais joué avant d’arriver à l’université !

Role: As a dual role, I assist the Campus Outaouais President while also managing campus finances and seeking out new sponsorships.

Name: Katharine Scarlat

Role: En tant que VP sociale, j’aide à concevoir et à coordonner des événements sociaux, comme le Frosh et l’évènement d’Halloween. Mon rôle consiste à créer des évènements inclusives et amusantes pour que les étudiants puissent se détendre et se sentir chez eux au sein du campus d’Outaouais de McGill et dans la communauté MSS.

Role: Act as the liaison between Campus Outaouais and external bodies such as the Fédération médicale étudiante du Québec (FMEQ) and the Canadian Federation of Medical Students (CFMS).

Name: Adam Mouncef

Role: I lead the Medical Students’ Society’s Government Affairs Committee, where I promote student engagement in health policy. In this capacity, I represent McGill at the Canadian Federation of Medical Students (CFMS) and the Fédération médicale étudiante du Québec (FMEQ). I also develop initiatives that raise awareness of pressing health policy issues and create opportunities for students to engage directly with policymakers.

Fun fact: I swim, cycle, and run, but somehow have never done a triathlon.

Student Spaces Officer

Role: Make student spaces comfier and more useful, especially the Annex.

Name:Max Yan

Role: I manage various tech platforms for the MSS, including the website you’re currently on! I also assist with event logistics and coordinating with the faculty to make sure the tech works.

SSMU Representative

Role: I act as the liaison between the MSS and the undergraduate student society at McGill, the SSMU! This includes attending the SSMU Legislative Council meetings and advocating for the needs of medical students on campus.

Role: As Past President, I support the current MSS governance team and continue to serve as a liaison between students and faculty to ensure continuity and collaboration.

Role: As your Med-2 class representative, I’m here to help make this year feel a little lighter and a lot more fun! Whether it’s a big night out, a chill hang, or something in between, I want us to have plenty of chances to step away from the routine and just enjoy each other’s company. I’m also a big believer in celebrating every little win along the way, because honestly, we all deserve it. Here’s to making memories, laughing lots, and supporting each other through it all!

Role: As your Med-2 class representative, my goal is to create a strong sense of community by organizing fun social events that bring us together outside the lecture halls and hospital. Whether it’s a well-deserved night out or a lowkey gathering, I believe in creating opportunities to unwind, recharge, and make memories along the way. I also want to take the time to celebrate all of our wins, no matter how big or small, and recognize the incredible achievements we reach throughout the year.
