About the club
The Canadian government is investing $200 billion in healthcare transformation, calling for
“innovative, and people centered health care solutions” (Health Canada, 2025). Ranked amongst the world’s top universities for entrepreneurs (Rubio & Thorne, 2025), McGill students are well- positioned to drive healthcare transformation but are currently without a dedicated medical student community to support entrepreneurship and innovation. This presents a timely opportunity to establish a dedicated community bridging medicine and entrepreneurship amongst medical students.
The mission of MSS Entrepreneurs in Medicine is to create an entrepreneurship and innovation
ecosystem that educates, inspires, and connects aspiring physician-leaders through three primary aims:
Inspiring entrepreneurship and innovation: through hosting demo days, where entrepreneurs pitch their startups and projects to potential investors and stakeholders to gain visibility and funding.
Educating our community: through delivering educational talks and workshops that may include an introduction to the lean startup method, startup law, foundations of intellectual property and patent searching, customer discovery, clinical need-finding, and frameworks for evaluating clinical solutions.
Connecting aspiring physician leaders: through hosting startup spotlight events featuring medical student or resident founders and leveraging existing connections with student-led societies (e.g., Front Row Ventures and McGill Ventures) and external organisations (e.g., HaloHealth and District3).
