MSS Space Medicine Interest Group (SMIG)

Club week video

About the club

As space exploration expands beyond our planet’s orbit, we face the imminent challenge of how to keep our astronauts alive and healthy as they face the dangers of the vast expanse of space. Challenging conditions abound, as astronauts are exposed to dangers such as radiation, microgravity and isolation. Virtually every bodily system is affected by the latter, and surprisingly little is known about space medicine. By advancing our knowledge of how the human body adapts to these conditions in space, we also progress our knowledge of human physiology as a whole. The MSS Space Medicine Interest Group’s mission is to expose McGill’s ambitious dental and medical students to the growing field of Aerospace Medicine and to provide networking opportunities with experts in the field.
